Maps

Vue map components wrap one of a few mapping engines, and that engine decides most of the trade-offs. Leaflet is light and simple: @vue-leaflet/vue-leaflet covers Leaflet 1.x but has had no commit since mid-2024, and @maxel01/vue-leaflet targets Leaflet 2. vue3-openlayers wraps OpenLayers for GIS work with projections and many data formats, and vue-maplibre-gl wraps MapLibre GL JS for vector tiles rendered with WebGL.

For 3D globes, vue-cesium provides CesiumJS components for Vue 3, and vue-mars3d is a Vue 2 option for the Mars3D platform. map-chart displays data on world, continent and country maps. Mapping libraries expect a browser window, so in Nuxt render them inside ClientOnly. Also budget for tiles: OpenStreetMap's public tile servers have a usage policy, and commercial providers charge by usage.
