Desktop apps

Vue desktop apps are usually built with Electron or Tauri. Electron bundles Chromium and Node.js, so apps are large but render the same everywhere; Tauri uses the operating system's web view and a Rust backend, which gives much smaller binaries but small rendering differences between platforms. electron-vite-vue, the most-starred entry, is a simple Electron, Vite and Vue 3 boilerplate, and electron-vite-template and Vutron add more structure, with Vutron including Vuetify and TypeScript.

OxideDock is a Vue 3 starter on Tauri 2 with Tailwind CSS, Pinia, Vitest and Playwright already configured. MōBrowser is a separate framework for desktop apps built with web technologies and provides Vue templates. The main starters here target Vue 3 and saw commits within the past year. Plan auto-updates, code signing and notarization early, since they often take more setup than the app shell itself.
