Internationalization

Vue I18n, maintained by the Intlify team, is the standard internationalization library; versions 9 and later target Vue 3, while version 8 served Vue 2. It handles message formatting, pluralization, number and date formatting and lazy-loaded locales, and the Nuxt i18n module builds on it. It is listed twice here, as vue-i18n and under its earlier repository name intlify/vue-i18n-next. fluent-vue uses Mozilla's Fluent syntax, which handles grammatical gender and complex plurals well.

Lighter options include vue-tiny-translation and vue-next-i18n for small apps, and v-intl wraps the browser's Intl APIs. vue-intlayer and tolgee/vue add translation management workflows, with Tolgee allowing in-context editing in the running app. For tooling, the vscode-vue-i18n-ally extension and Loccy help find missing keys in editors. Plan locale loading early, since bundling every language into the main chunk is a common cause of large builds.
